A Wee Bit o Tartan

October 13, 2012

There are several op shops (charity shops in local parlance) on the main street in Berwick-on-Tweed.  In one, I found a lovely Scottish pure wool tartan scarf that I thought would make a lovely little skirt of for our dear girl.

So with the tools at hand – the kitchen scissors from the place we are staying, needle and thread I brought with me for running repairs and a little bit of elastic from the local yarn shop, our girl had her skirt.

I had imagined tights and cardigan but our dear girl had other ideas.

There was a bit left over, which after fulling in the washing machine downstairs, will be perfect for repairing the holes which have suddenly appeared over the front of her merino thermal top.

Make do and mend! Ah – it thrills me so!
