Whilst visiting Bamburgh Castle this week, deep inside the Norman keep, our family literally stumbled onto an exhibition from the Sheep Tales and Spinning Yarns project.
The project is designed to record, celebrate and preserve the sheep, shepherding and wool producing culture of Northumberland. It has archived images and oral histories of sheep farmers and shepherds.
This particular exhibition featured the felted pennants of local primary schools made by the children in collaboration with local artists using locally produced fleece. They are amazing – the vibrancy, the detail and unity of the design.
