Fun Day Fun

September 8, 2013

IMG_8067On Saturday, we all voted in our federal election.  Our Dear Boy’s school was a polling station and the parents ran a Fun Day to raise money for the school.

IMG_8064With another mum, I ran the Learn to Crochet stall. We had quite a few wee customers.  Interestingly, our customers were a lot younger than I expected. They ranged from 4 to 8 years old. The older kids didn’t come near!

I did a lot of talking about the crochet hook being a magic wand that was going to catch the yarn and make a magic loop. This might well work with grown ups too!

Crochet is quite a feat of co-ordination. You have to hold and tension yarn with the left hand whilst holding the work as well and at the same time, make precise movements with the right hand to make various yarn loops. With a little help keeping the yarn tension, all the kids managed a chain which they wore as a wristband.

There were so many things to do, lots of competitions and rides, sausage sizzle, grilled corn, homemade lemonade, live music, a cake stall, a preserves stall, a craft stall and a second hand bric-a-brac stall.  Unfortunately, I didn’t have a lot of time to take pics, it was a crazy but brilliant day.
