Polygamous knitting

May 23, 2013

I recently discovered I am a monogamous knitter! So reckons Andi from My Sister’s Knitter.  To counter that peculiar ennui that sometimes strikes mid project, Andi casts on something new.  Fueled with the excitement and optimism casting on engenders, the original project often moves forward too.  She has many projects going at once.

IMG_6733I am not like this.  I start something, knit through the pain, sometimes leaving the knitting aside for a week or so before resuming.  This is works well for finishing things but I am not sure it is letting my knitting muse fly.  I hear her whispers suggesting all sorts of knitting ideas and experiments but I have tended to log these on a list, telling myself I will come back to them when I have time.  Discipline over desire…mmm not such an exciting tendency I reckon.

Perhaps though, when the muse speaks, it is time to listen and go cast on crazy.  Time to give it a try anyway.  So I am casting on!

IMG_6715This one is an experiment in knitting a sweater from the middle out…not sure how this one will turn out but that is why it is an experiment. I am reusing this Noro yarn for the second time now.  It was gift from my sister-in-law which I knit into a scarf for a long time. Who knows how many lives it will have?
